A distinctive vintage pendant from the late 20th century, this piece features a natural shark tooth capped in a sleek 18K gold mount.Likely produced in the 1980s or 1990s, the pendant reflects the enduring appeal of organic forms in jewellery, combining natural history with minimalist design. The pale, curved tooth is small but sharply defined, and the gold setting is clean and unadorned, allowing the tooth’s form to remain the focus. The top is stamped ‘8’, likely indicating an 8mm width.Such pendants often symbolise strength, survival, and protection - beliefs rooted in Polynesian and seafaring traditions. In the 1980s, they became popular fashion statements associated with surf culture, masculinity, and naturalistic adornment.
