A beautiful example of early 20th-century craftsmanship, this octagonal locket was crafted in Vienna during the Austro-Hungarian Empire, circa 1910. Made of solid 14K yellow gold, it features a striking Art Nouveau floral motif with green enamel leaves, vibrant ruby-set flowers, and a branch of rose-cut diamonds that gracefully enhance its design.The locket opens to reveal a hidden compartment beneath a glass panel, perfectly suited for holding a photograph or a sentimental keepsake such as a lock of hair. Its secure closure and well-preserved hinge ensure functionality alongside its decorative appeal.The piece is hallmarked with antique Austro-Hungarian marks, including the Vienna assay mark and a 14K gold designation, dating it between 1872 and 1922. The maker’s mark "GD" is also present, adding further provenance to this unique piece.Measuring 18mm in diameter and weighing 5.42 grams, this locket has a satisfying weight while remaining delicate in size.Condition: Fair overall condition with some surface scratches and minor discolouration commensurate with age.
