A Superb Antique Rose Cut Diamond Solitaire Ring
This beautiful piece was made in France and dates to the mid 19th century. The ring is crafted in 18K gold and set with an oval rose cut diamond in a rub over setting. The closed back diamond rests in an openwork belcher setting with 6 prongs, each of these enamelled and designed in the shape of a fleur-de-lys, an iconic symbol of French royalty and heraldry.
This ornate bezel is attached to an equally as intricate band which is detailed with ridges and baluster form shoulders, enamelled and engraved. The attention to detail of this piece is rather impressive and is without doubt one of the most unique examples that I have come across!
UK size M, 3.03g 18k gold
French horse head control marks to indicate 750 gold (18K). The rose cut diamond measures 4.7mm x 3.7mm x 3mm.
