Gimmel rings have a long history, going back to the 16th-century Europe; they were often given as love tokens, their clever construction symbolising fidelity and trust.This example is crafted in rich 18K gold, with softly worn surfaces consistent with age and use. When taken apart, the individual elements reveal the ingenuity of the design; when assembled, they sit neatly together with a pleasing, balanced profile on the hand.
