A fine French Belle Époque cluster ring, dating to circa 1900, set with a certified natural Burmese spinel surrounded by old mine cut diamonds.The centre stone is a richly coloured 1.8ct natural spinel, accompanied by a GCS certificate confirming Burmese origin and no heat treatment. It has a vivid pinkish-red tone, full of depth and character.The spinel is framed by twelve old mine cut diamonds, each weighing approx 0.3ct each - totalling 3.6cts. Each individually set in platinum-topped settings over a rich yellow gold body. The diamonds are particularly bright and lively, with some natural inclusions visible under magnification. The use of platinum for the diamond settings is very much in keeping with Belle Époque jewellery, where jewellers used the white metal to enhance the brightness of diamonds while retaining the warmth and strength of gold beneath.The ring is crafted in 21K yellow gold, testing as such, with platinum-topped settings to the front. The shoulders are neatly detailed, each set with an additional old cut diamond, leading to a smooth yellow gold band.The ring is a UK size K / US 5.25 and weighs 5.84g. It is in excellent antique condition, with all stones secure and the setting structurally sound. Light wear is present in keeping with age.
