    • A gorgeous and unusual antique gold bumblebee ring.

The bumblebee dates from the 19th century and its body is decorated with rose cut diamonds all over, with rubies set into the eyes. The diamonds are set in a open-backed silver topped gold mount. This lovely bee would have started life as a stickpin and has since been converted to a ring.

The ring is crafted in 18K gold and features a scrollwork band designed in early 19th century style.

In Victorian England, jewellery often featured insect motifs, it was seen as a way to connect with the natural world and this piece is a lovely example of this trend. More specifically, the bumblebee symbolised unconditional love and support.

      UK size N 1/2 / US size 6.75

The ring weighs 1.95 grams, it is unmarked but tests as 18K gold.

The bee measures 12mm x 9mm. The ring sits flat on the finger which makes it ideal for frequent wear. This special piece would be eye-catching when worn and add a dash of Victorian playfulness to an everyday outfit.
