A pair of antique tri-colour gold Russian wedding rings, dating to the early 20th century.
Each ring is crafted with three interlocking bands in white, yellow and rose gold, cleverly designed to smoothly roll across the finger.
The design, traditionally known as a Russian wedding ring, have a history which dates back to 19th century Russia. Symbolic of the past, present and future of a couple, this design has distinct romantic connotations. The three interlocking bands were also said to symbolise the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit of the Catholic Church, coming together to form the Holy Trinity.
They entered the international mainstream in 1924, when Cartier adapted their unique style to create their celebrated ‘Trinity Ring’ which is still in production today, almost 100 years after.
The pair of rings are in different sizes (his and hers). The smaller ring is a UK size G / US size 3.5, whilst the larger ring is UK size M 1/2 / US size 6.25.
They both test as 20.1K gold (also known as 840 gold which is the Russian gold standard).
The rings have a combined weight of 7.92 grams and the bands measure 2mm in width.
