A Victorian English gold signet ring, c.1870, set with an oval banded agate in an 18K gold mount. The agate measures approximately 12 × 10mm and shows a dark black ground crossed by clean pale diagonal bands. It remains unengraved, leaving the stone suitable either as a plain signet or for future seal engraving.The shoulders are the strongest decorative feature of the ring; worked with scrolling repoussé-style ornament that gives the mount a distinctly mid-Victorian character.
