About Rose Cut Diamond

Rose cut diamonds have a flat base and a domed crown of triangular facets, cut to keep as much of the rough crystal as possible. They were the dominant diamond cut from the 16th to the early 19th century, and their soft, glowing light was made for candlelit rooms.

In Georgian jewellery, rose cuts were usually set in silver on a gold body, often in closed-back collets with a foil behind each stone. Later Victorian and Edwardian pieces use them as accents around coloured stones.
