    • A striking and sculptural vintage French Art Nouveau style ring, crafted in solid 18K gold, probably dating to the 1970’s or earlier. This bold figural piece features the mythological deities Neptune and Fortuna carved into the shoulders, forming a miniature tableau of maritime symbolism and protection.

At the centre sits a luminous opal cabochon weighing approximately 6 carats, radiating vivid hues of green and fiery orange. The stone is set in a detailed bezel with clawed teeth, rope-twist edging, and shell motifs to the north and south, reinforcing the ring’s nautical theme.

To one side, Neptune—the Roman god of the sea—is depicted with his trident and horn, symbols of command over water and storms. Opposite him stands Fortuna, goddess of fate, identifiable by the ship’s rudder she holds. This particular iconography relates to Fortuna Navalis, invoked by sailors for safe passage and favourable winds.

Together, the figures and motifs weave a narrative of fortune, fate, and guidance—making this an especially poignant piece for those drawn to mythology, seafaring heritage, or symbolic jewellery.

The ring is stamped with a French owl hallmark for imported 18K gold, along with a maker’s mark.

      Details:

      • Stone: Approx. 6ct opal cabochon (15 x 10 x 7 mm)
      • Setting: 18K gold, tested
      • Total height of bezel: 22 mm north to south
