A striking French Art Nouveau dragon necklace dating to around 1910, crafted in Paris at the height of the movement.Made entirely in 18K gold, the pendant takes the form of a sinuous dragon whose sweeping, organic lines create an elegant openwork composition. The fluid curves and stylised naturalism are classic Art Nouveau design, recalling the fantastical creatures popularised by artists and jewellers such as Réné Lalique during the period.Two cultured pearls accent the design; one set within the dragon’s body and another suspended below as a drop. Beneath this hangs a small crumpled platinum element cleverly designed to imitate the sparkle of a white gemstone. The pendant measures approximately 3 × 4 cm.The necklace retains its delicate original chain with decorative filigree panels.
