    • A magnificent antique Italian bangle bracelet, crafted in rich 14K gold and set with approx 3.9cts of vibrant emeralds and a constellation of antique rose-cut diamonds. Made circa 1900, this bracelet draws directly from the aesthetic language of the Georgian period; in Italy during this time jewellers frequently revived 18th-century techniques, resulting in jewels such as this that feel unmistakably Georgian while belonging to the début-de-siècle.
The bracelet is beautifully constructed in gold with a thin applied layer of silver over the diamond-set areas; this “silver-over-gold” technique was standard for Georgian and Victorian diamond work, allowing the rose cuts to shimmer against a cooler reflective ground. Here, thirty-four open-backed rose cuts, totalling approx 2.6cts, are arranged within an intricate pierced openwork mount of scrolling foliage; the workmanship is exceptionally fine, each tiny curl and leaf articulated by hand.
Three emeralds form the focal points, each displaying a deep, lush, forest-green hue. They are mounted in closed-back, domed settings with foiling beneath in the traditional Georgian manner; the colour is wonderfully rich, glowing warmly against the gold and silvered surfaces. Total emerald weight is approx 3.9cts.
The bracelet itself is hinged for ease of wear, closing securely, and the shank is engraved throughout with detailed patterning. It weighs an impressive 32.62g and tests as 14K gold (a standard fineness commonly used in Italy during this period), with silver overlaid to the gem-set areas. Internal diameter is approx 5.8 x 4.8cm.
Condition is very good; there is evidence of a historical repair to the back of the shank, discreet and completely invisible when worn. The structure is strong, the stones secure, and the piece presents beautifully.
A rare and striking example of antique Italian work in the Georgian revival style; richly ornamented, superbly executed, and set with emeralds of exceptional colour.
