    • A rare mid-19th-century French cluster of five masonic charms in gold and hand-carved mother of pearl.

The charms show symbols of Freemasonry: the shovel, the all-seeing eye, the compasses, the square and the scales. They hang from a split ring, so individual charms can easily be added or removed.

Gold and mother of pearl worked this finely are fragile, and it is remarkable that the set has survived in such pristine condition.

A small, intriguing piece for a collector of masonic jewellery, or to wear on a chain.

Details: mid-19th century; France; unmarked, tests as 15K gold, with carved mother of pearl; approx. 2cm long; 1.77g.

Condition: Pristine, which is remarkable for so fragile a piece.
