    • This charming antique English Georgian era gold swivel ring dates to the the early 19th century, circa 1820.

It is set with a fully rotating bright orange carnelian panel, beautifully cut and polished with bevelled edges.

Typically these carnelian swivel rings would have been engraved with a name, and used to seal off letters in wax (in the days before self-adhesive envelopes!). However this one, amazingly, remains unengraved despite its 200 year old history, a truly rare find.

The ring is unmarked but tests as 15K gold. The shoulders feature typically Georgian repousse-work shoulders with scrollwork and buckle motifs, which lead to a reeded shank.

UK size Q, US size 8, the ring weighs a total of 4.4 grams. The carnelian panel measures 14mm x 10mm.

Both the stone and the ring are in great condition. The ring is very comfortable to wear and sits flat on the finger.
