A distinctive vintage Boucheron Paris sapphire ring, crafted in 18K white gold and set with an oval-cut sapphire in an unusual suspended or “floating” mount. The design leaves the sides and pavilion of the stone visible in profile, so the sapphire appears held between two broad polished shoulders rather than enclosed in a conventional bezel or claw setting.This sculptural setting is one of the most interesting features of the ring. From the front, the form is clean and architectural, with the sapphire sitting flush between the heavy white gold shoulders. From the side, the construction becomes far more unusual: the full depth of the stone is exposed, giving the ring a striking profile and a strong late 20th-century Boucheron character.The sapphire weighs 2.52 carats, indicated by the engraved “2.52” inside the band. It has a clear, lively blue colour, sitting somewhere between classic cornflower blue and what is sometimes described as “Prince of Wales blue”, with a cooler tone that works particularly well against the white gold mount.The ring is signed Boucheron and marked 750 for 18K gold, with a maker’s lozenge and the reference/serial number B837 18323. A closely related Boucheron sapphire ring was offered by Christie’s as lot 172 in its Joaillerie Paris sale, set with a sapphire (see final photo for reference).The ring weighs approximately 7.84g, giving it a substantial feel on the hand, and is a UK size J½ / US 5. Condition is very good overall, with light surface wear to the white gold consistent with age and use.
