A Victorian solid gold ‘Albert’ curb link bracelet, made in Birmingham by E Whitehouse & Sons, circa 1900.
This would have originally been part of a longer chain known as an Albert chain, which would have hung from a gentleman’s waist coat and been attached to his pocket watch, but it also looks fantastic when worn as a bracelet.
The links are solid, each link is individually stamped with the antique lion passat mark for British gold. The bracelet also carries hallmarks for 9K gold and the maker EW&S.
The bracelet is graduated, meaning the links increase in size towards the centre. At its widest the links measure 0.8cm across. The bracelet measures 18cm and weighs an impressive 28.57 grams.
