    • A superb and heavy solid 18K gold antique signet ring, made in 19th century Victorian England, circa 1890.

The centrepiece of this substantial gold ring is an oval bloodstone gemstone with excellent colouration and evenly spread bright red splatters. Bloodstone is the March birthstone, historically known as the ‘stone of courage’, worn by warriors in battle for protection and to stop bleeding wounds.

The shoulders feature an intricate relief-worked heraldic coat of arms design on each shoulder.

      UK size R 1/2, US size 9

The outer band is stamped with a French gold import control mark indicating the ring has a minimum gold fineness of 18K gold. The ring weighs an impressive 16.15 grams and is crafted in 18K gold.

Bloodstone measures 18mm x 13mm on its longest axes. The ring measures 20mm at the front, and 6mm across at the back.

The ring is in good overall condition, there is some fading to the coat of arms design on the shoulders, but the years of wear have created an incredibly silky texture on the inside of the ring which feels fantastic on the finger. A superb antique signet ring, made to last.
