    • This distinctive antique Chinese signet ring, crafted from high-karat gold, dates to the 19th century (or earlier) and features an oval jade gemstone at its centre.

The band is adorned with intricate weaving patterns, though much of this design has softened over time due to over a century of wear. Evidence of historic repairs to the shoulders and band highlights the enduring value of this piece. Despite its age, the ring remains in wearable condition, with the band secure and the gemstone snugly held in place.

The bezel measures 7 mm north to south at the front, tapering to 3 mm at the back. Unmarked but testing as 21K gold, the ring weighs a good 6.6 grams. It also retains a set of Chinese hallmarks, indicative of its origin and gold fineness. The jade measures approximately 1 cm by 0.5 cm and is securely set within a smooth bezel mount.

In Chinese culture, jade has been cherished for thousands of years as a symbol of life, longevity, and rank. It was often worn by emperors during their lifetime and placed with them in their tombs to signify eternal life.

A beautiful and historic piece, this ring is a UK size S½ (US size 9.25). Its well-worn appearance and delicate repairs are a testament to its storied past, offering collectors a rare opportunity to own a tangible link to Chinese cultural heritage.
