An Art Deco-style ruby and diamond ring, made in Spain or Italy around the 1980s and signed by the jeweller Diafini.Diafini specialised in jewels built on the vocabulary of the 1920s, and pieces bearing the signature have appeared at Sotheby's and Christie's. This ring takes the elongated, geometric panel of the Art Deco cocktail ring and renders it faithfully in 18K white gold, with millegrain edges throughout.At the centre sits a European-cut diamond, framed by baguette and single-cut diamonds and outlined in a border of calibré-cut rubies. The diamonds are bright, white and natural. The stones are open-backed, which lets in light and keeps the ring easy to clean.A French owl mark on the outside of the band shows that it was later sold in France.
