    • A particularly unusual antique old cushion cut diamond solitaire ring, made in Paris at the height of the Art Nouveau period, circa 1900.

At first glance the design appears deceptively simple; a single diamond held within a four-prong setting. On closer inspection, however, the ring reveals a far more expressive and fluid composition. The mount is subtly slanted, the band gently undulates, and the prong tips curl with a soft, wave-like motion; an elegant and restrained interpretation of Art Nouveau design, rarely encountered in such a minimal form.

The central diamond is an old cushion cut of approximately 0.4ct, with a large culet, attractive antique faceting, bright colour and good clarity. The open-backed setting allows light to pass freely through the stone and facilitates ease of cleaning. The ring is crafted in 18K gold.

A refined and distinctive example of turn-of-the-century craftsmanship, combining organic movement with a classic solitaire form.

      UK size O 1/2, US size 7.5
      Weight 3.57g
      Diamond measures approximately 5 × 4 × 3 mm
Great overall condition; a small fine crack to the inside of the band is present, not visible when worn and does not affect wearability. An unusual and scarce find.
