This beautiful Victorian opal and diamond half-hoop ring was crafted in Chester circa 1895 in buttery 18K yellow gold. It exemplifies a typical late 19th-century design, combining the sought-after pairing of opals and diamonds.

The ring is set with three round opal cabochons, their claw settings showcasing vibrant play-of-colour with neon greens, purples, and reds in a captivating matrix. Old mine-cut diamonds, set in pairs between the opals, add brilliance to the design. The stones are open-backed, allowing light to pass through for added sparkle and facilitating easy cleaning.

The central opal measures approximately 6 mm in diameter, while the gem-set bezel head spans 17 mm by 7 mm. This wearable and well-balanced piece weighs 4 grams.
