    • This charming Victorian signet ring, crafted in rich 18K yellow gold, was made in Birmingham in 1876, as evidenced by its hallmark and the maker's mark "C.G" for Charles Gordon. The gold displays a warm, buttery texture that complements the sardonyx's polished surface.

The centrepiece is an unengraved sardonyx measuring 13 x 10 mm, a remarkable feature given the ring's age. Most signet rings of this period were personalised with monograms, family crests, or coats of arms, making this untouched example particularly unusual. Sardonyx, a layered agate, was highly prized in Victorian jewellery for its striking contrast. Typically, it features a thick coloured layer with a thin white layer above, making it ideal for cameos and intaglios.

The band measures 4 mm in width and is a UK size Q½ (US size 8.25). It weighs 4.87 grams, giving it a reassuring presence while remaining comfortable to wear.

Condition: This ring has been well preserved, and the hallmarks remain crisp. There are some light surface scratches and signs of wear commensurate with its age.

A timeless and versatile piece, this Victorian signet ring offers collectors and jewellery enthusiasts an opportunity to own an 150-year-old design, perfect for both everyday wear and special occasions.
