A classic and highly wearable example of British Arts & Crafts design, this pendant necklace dates to around 1905 and is in the style of celebrated firm Murrle Bennett & Co. Crafted in 9ct yellow gold, the pendant features a large oval matrix turquoise in a distinctive openwork setting inspired by Celtic and organic forms, with a smaller turquoise drop suspended below and two natural seed pearls accenting the vertical axis.The pendant measures 4.5 × 2.5cm, suspended from its original fine-link 9ct gold chain (59cm / 23") with an early dog clip clasp. Both the pendant and the chain bear 9ct hallmarks, the former in the typical open-backed mount seen in many Murrle Bennett pieces.Murrle Bennett & Co. was founded in London in 1896 by German-born Ernst Murrle and Englishman J.B.
