An elegant antique French gold and matrix opal solitaire ring, dating from the early 20th century, circa 1920.

The 5ct opal has been cabochon cut and polished. The gemstone displays a pool of rainbow opalescence within the opaque earthy surround. The inside features a myriad of colour play with a central matrix of green, orange, red and purple.

The stone is prong set in all the cardinal directions and the high-karat gold mount has a lovely open gallery decorated with scrolled motifs.

The ring weighs 3.45 grams. The outer band stamped with a French ‘tête d’aigle’ (eagle head) hallmark to indicate Paris and 18K gold. The ring remains in excellent condition and the stone is securely set.

Conditions: Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs. All items are to be returned in their original condition and packaging. Buyer damaged items and items bought on layaway are ineligible for returns. Items over £2500 can be returned for store credit only.
