An elegant late Victorian diamond bangle crafted in Belle Époque Paris circa 1890. The bangle is constructed in solid 18K gold and set with seven collet-set old cut diamonds arranged across the front section. The diamonds total approximately 2.1 carats combined, each stone displaying the open culets, deep proportions, and lively candlelit scintillation associated with antique cuts. Their bright white colour and notably clean clarity are particularly fine for period jewellery of this date.Unlike modern brilliant cuts, old cut diamonds were fashioned to shimmer under low natural light and candlelight, producing a softer, more atmospheric sparkle. The bracelet is crafted throughout in 18K gold and weighs an impressive 25.03 grams. The underlying gold has the warm slightly rosy tone often encountered in late 19th century French jewellery, though the piece has more recently received a yellow gold plating intended to give a brighter overall appearance while preserving the original structure beneath.French hallmarks remain present to the tongue of the box clasp, including the eagle’s head mark and rhinoceros mark indicating 18K gold and Paris. A makers lozenge mark is also present but cannot be identified.Internal diameter measures approximately 6 x 5cm. Individual diamonds measure approximately 4 x 3.5mm. The bangle measures 1cm wide.Condition is very good overall. The clasp closes very securely. A small number of minor dents are present to the reverse side of the bangle, consistent with age and wear, though these are not visible when worn. The front display section remains crisp and highly presentable.Victorian French diamond bangles of this quality and weight are increasingly sought-after. The clean linear arrangement of the diamonds gives the bracelet a surprisingly modern appearance despite its 19th century origin, making it highly wearable today.
