This unusual silver monogram ring dates from the turn of the century, circa 1920 to 1930 and would have been made in either France or Germany. The bezel displays a monogram engraved with the initials ‘EAB’.

The shoulders are decorated with a vertically ridged and stepped effect which leads to a smooth, tapering silver shank. 

UK ring size T, US size 9.5

The ring is unmarked but tests as high-grade silver, and weighs a total of 7.46 grams. The bezel measures 11mm north to south. 

It is is in good condition, and is a lovely example of Art Deco monogram rings. 

The Art Deco period of jewellery, which emerged in the 1920s and lasted until the mid-1930s, was all about glamour and luxury. Characterised by bold, geometric designs that emphasised symmetry and sleekness, jewellery incorporated gemstones such as onyx, lapis lazuli, and diamonds. The discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb in 1922 also led to a revived interest in Egyptian motifs. The use of platinum and white gold became popular during this period, and gemstone cuts such as the baguette and emerald cuts were favoured.
