A gorgeous vintage five stone opal and diamond half hoop ring, made in London in 1972.
This Victorian-style 18K gold ring is set five cabochon-cut opal gemstones. The opals are particularly good specimens with lots of red flashes throughout. They are set in an openwork gallery with swirling motifs with small rose cut diamonds resting in between the prong-set opals. This specific ring design was particularly popular in the Victorian period, and it was revived again in the 1970’s when was a resurgence of popular Victorian designs. This one was made in London in 1972 by the maker ‘DHJ’.
The ring is in good overall condition and all the stones are securely set. The ring weighs 5.5 grams. It is fully hallmarked for 18K gold. The gem cluster head measures 20mm x 8mm.
