An unusual and finely crafted antique emerald and diamond ring, made in Germany in the 19th century. The ring centres on a vivid step-cut emerald (approx. 4 × 3mm), set in an open-backed rectangular rub-over collet. Its bright green colour and characteristic inclusions are consistent with Colombian origin, the most prized source in historical emerald trade.Flanking the emerald are four rose-cut diamonds set in silver, their foil backing and clustered arrangement in keeping with 19th-century continental jewellery practices. The gallery is particularly ornate, with foliate embossing behind the stones and finely modelled pierced starburst motifs beneath the diamonds. The shoulders are formed of elegant C-scrolls that transition into a chased Rococo-style band, lending the ring a sculptural and romantic quality.Size: UK N½ / US 6.75Weight: 4.15gCondition: Very good antique condition. Emerald is well-preserved with good colour and some natural inclusions; settings and goldwork crisp and structurally sound.
