A fine French 19th-century gold and diamond cluster ring, circa 1880. Crafted in 18K yellow gold, the ring features a convex navette-shaped bezel set with rose-cut diamonds in rubover settings. These are closed-back settings, almost certainly with foiling beneath the stones to enhance their brilliance, in keeping with 19th-century practice. The shoulders are beautifully worked in open scroll motifs, giving the piece both lightness and intricacy.Marks: The inner band bears the French control mark for 18K gold.Measurements:
- UK size: 2.5 / US size: E (small)
- Bezel: 14 × 10 mm
- Central stone: approx. 4.5 × 3 mm
- Navette head measures 14 × 10 mm
- Weight: 3.04 g
Condition: Very good antique condition. Some natural wear to the foiling and settings, consistent with age and use, but all stones remain secure.
