    • A lovely antique half hoop ring, crafted in France during the Georgian period, circa early 19th century. Set with five rose-cut diamonds, the stones are mounted in silver crimped collet settings, a style typical of the time. The triangular facets of the rose cuts were designed to glisten beautifully by candlelight—ideal for the intimate, low-lit settings of the period.

Most rings of this era feature closed-back settings with silver foil behind the stones to enhance their brilliance. This rare example, however, is open-backed and unfoiled, allowing natural light to pass through the diamonds and making them easier to clean—highly desirable for those wishing to wear antique jewellery on a daily basis.

The largest diamond measures approximately 4mm x 3mm, with the smallest around 3mm x 3mm. The ring is unmarked but tests as 18K gold, with a soft patina developed across the silver settings over two centuries of life.

UK ring size M½ (US 6.5).

Condition: Very good antique condition. All stones secure and the setting structurally sound.

A rare, wearable example of Georgian craftsmanship—historically significant and unusually practical.
