    • A superb Belle Époque gold ring, made in Paris, circa 1910.

This cluster ring features a gorgeous arrangement of milgrain set emeralds and rubies, decorated with floral motifs and rose cut diamonds in platinum settings. The ring is undoubtedly one of the most intricate and well-made Belle Époque rings that we have had the fortune of handling.

Although the maker’s lozenge mark is partially faded, a similar example can be seen in the book ‘Paris Salons 1895-1914 Jewellery II: L-Z’ by Alistair Duncan on page 75 and attributes the work to the French jeweller Charles-Eugène-François Lefebvre.

There is a faint engraving on the inside of the ring with the numbers ‘4 08 12’, which would indicates a date, in this case, the 8th April 1912.

The ring is stamped with a French ‘tête d’aigle’ (‘eagle head’) control mark to indicate that it was made in Paris and that the ring is crafted with a minimum fineness of 18K gold (it tests as 22K gold).

UK size N, US size 6.75

The ring weighs 6.21 grams. The face of the ring measures 25mm x 11mm.

All of the stones are beautifully cut and mounted in open-backed settings. Despite being over 100 years old, the ring remains in really fantastic condition. A truly special ring with seriously impressive craftsmanship and beautiful design. When it comes to Belle Époque rings, it really does not get better than this…
