A superb antique Victorian period solid 9K gold classic Albert curb chain necklace. It was made by Charles Daniel Broughton of St Pauls Square in Birmingham, circa 1895.
This type of chain is known as an Albert chain, traditionally it was hung from a gentleman’s waist coat and been attached to his pocket watch, but today it looks fantastic when worn as a necklace! The graduated gold chain is attached to a gold T-bar and a decorative pocket watch key fob.
Every link is stamped with the gold fineness (9ct) and both the watch key and t-bar are stamped with hallmarks for the maker (CBD) and 9ct.
The necklace has a length of 15.4” (39cm) and weighs 19.68 grams of 9K gold. The chain is in excellent condition and the dog clip clasps fasten very securely. Both the watch key fob and t-bar decoration measure 3.5cm in their longest axes.
