Beautiful Antique Georgian Period Cruciform Floral Cluster Ring
This ornate handcrafted ring was made in the early 19th century circa 1800-1820. A superb example of fine Georgian jewellery, this ring was crafted in 14K gold and carries French import marks (likely made in Holland or England). The central pearl is surrounded by four old mine cut diamonds in the cardinal directions, each set in engraved silver closed-back and cut-down settings. The gaps in between the cruciform shape are filled with intricate canetille swirls, bezel set rubies and granulated spheres giving the ring a floral cluster appearance. The shoulders of the ring reinforce this idea with engraved flowers set with diamonds running down the band.
The underside of the bezel is equally as impressive with its close-back domed design engraved with rays which emanate from the centre. This elegant ring sits fairly flat on the finger to allow for frequent wear and is without doubt a superior example of Georgian craftsmanship.
UK size K 1/2, US size 5 1/2, 4.56g gold, hallmarked 14K
