    • A superb antique Italian foiled rock crystal solitaire ring dating to around 1840.

Crafted in 18K gold, the ring has a distinctly late medieval character, with its squared, raised box bezel and bold table-cut centre stone. The head measures approximately 8mm in diameter and is set with a table-cut rock crystal laid over a thin layer of rose-tinted foil, creating a rich cherry-red appearance. This traditional technique, known as foiling, dates back centuries and was widely used to enhance the colour and brilliance of stones.

The design is typical of 19th century Italian regional jewellery, often worn with traditional dress. The small curled details to either side of the bezel are characteristic of Italian rings of this type and give the piece a charming, sculptural quality.

      Marked “VI” to the inside.
UK size P, US size 7.75
      Weight 2.14 grams

A fine and authentic example of Italian folk jewellery, combining historic technique with a wonderfully bold and graphic form.
