    • An unusual French antique charm pendant, c.1910, modelled as a bicorne hat - the instantly recognisable form associated with Napoleon Bonaparte. In French jewellery and medallic design, the bicorne became a compact symbol of Napoleonic memory: military ambition, imperial France, national mythology, and one of the most recognisable figures in French history. Even today, the silhouette of Napoleon’s hat remains an immediate visual shorthand for the man himself.

The pendant is crafted in 18K gold, with a small platinum-set detail to the front, accented with tiny rose-cut diamonds and a cabochon amethyst. The form is cleverly worked in three dimensions, with the folded brim of the hat giving it real sculptural character despite its small scale. It would originally have been worn as a charm or pendant, and sits well as a small historical jewel on a fine chain.

The piece is struck with the French eagle-head hallmark for 18K gold. It measures approximately 1.8 × 1 × 1cm and weighs 1.54g. Condition is very good, with light surface wear consistent with age; the diamond and amethyst accents remain secure, and the pendant loop is sound.

A rare and characterful French 18K gold Napoleonic bicorne hat charm pendant, combining patriotic symbolism, Belle Époque workmanship and a particularly unusual subject. Please note: chain not included.
