A rich and intricate example of 19th-century Balinese artistry, this high-karat gold ring encapsulates the opulence and spiritual symbolism of antique Indonesian jewellery. Set with a deep purplish-red cabochon ruby between rose-cut diamonds in foiled rubover settings, its surface is alive with spiralling gold coils - a design motif characteristic of Balinese goldsmithing of the period. The craftsmanship is unmistakable: every curve of the mount has been hand-shaped and textured, with coiled filigree-like detailing giving a sculptural quality to the surface. The foil-backed settings reflect light brightly through the diamonds, lending the stones a glowing, inner fire. The bak of the ring its decorated with a lozenge-shaped sprue.Crafted in 22K gold, the ring has a nice weight of 7.24 grams and a buttery, saturated colour typical of high-purity gold jewels from Southeast Asia. The central ruby (approx. 0.7ct) measures around 5mm in diameter, flanked by two 4 × 3mm rose-cut diamonds.Ring size: UK I½ / US 4.5.Condition: Very good antique condition with minimal wear; all stones secure. An evocative and rare survivor of 19th-century Balinese craftsmanship - rich in texture, cultural symbolism, and historic depth.
