The necklace bears the Italian 750 assay mark for 18k gold and weighs an impressive 66.76 grams.The chain measures 70 cm (27.5 in.) in length and suspends twelve individually hand-carved figural charms, each approximately 3.5 x 1 cm, depicting the mano figa — the clenched hand gesture with the thumb thrust between the index and middle finger. The charms are crafted from a variety of richly hued hardstones and gems including coral, rhodonite, rose quartz, lapis lazuli, agate, carnelian, nephrite, and tiger’s eye, each capped in 18k gold. A safety chain is fitted for security.The mano figa has been worn since antiquity as a protective amulet against the evil eye, with origins in Etruscan Italy.
