A rare medieval Islamic silver ring, dating to the 11th–12th century and most likely from Seljuk or Fatimid workshops, with comparable silver and niello rings known from regions such as Persia, Syria and Egypt.The ring has a strong architectural form, the rectangular bezel is bordered with finely chased scrolling arabesque decoration, much of it retaining its dark niello infill. Four rounded applied bosses sit at the corners, giving the front a distinctive framed appearance. The shoulders are broad and concave, pierced and shaped with bold cut-out details, with further nielloed scrollwork continuing down the sides of the band.Comparable examples are illustrated in Islamic Rings and Gems: The Benjamin Zucker Collection (1987), including items 15, 16 and 39, where related silver and niello rings are attributed across the Fatimid and Seljuk worlds. The present example sits within that same medieval Islamic jewellery tradition, where geometric form, arabesque ornament and dark niello contrast were used to striking decorative effect.The ring is made in silver and weighs 10.17g, giving it a particularly substantial feel. It is a UK size K / US 5.25, with the band measuring approximately 4mm wide at the back and rectangular bezel measuring approximately 14 × 12mm. Condition is very good for its age, with surface wear, patina and minor irregularity throughout, as expected from a ring of this period.
