    • A highly unusual set with a completely natural, unworked gold nugget - mounted c.1900 onto a high-carat gold band. The result is a distinctive piece of organic antique jewellery, showcasing the raw material in its purest form.

The nugget itself, measuring approx. 10×4mm, displays a classic sponge-like texture. It has been left entirely in its original form, with no shaping or refinement, and is simply mounted on a gold band. Gold nuggets from this period generally test at a natural purity between 21 to 23 karats; this example tests at approximately 22k.

The slender band is made of 21k gold and bears a French control mark. The origin of the nugget is uncertain, but it may well derive from one of the major gold-producing regions active at the turn of the 20th century, such as California, Alaska, or Victoria (Australia), all known for yielding high-purity nuggets.

      Ring size: UK M / US 6.25
      Weight: 1.88g
Condition: Band shows some areas of tarnished patina, commensurate with age. Nugget secure and undamaged.
