A early 20th century Edwardian gold bangle set with amethysts and seed pearls.

The hinged bangle-bracelet was made in Birmingham, in the year 1910. It is intricately crafted in 9K gold and weighs 20 grams in total. 

The bracelet is designed in Etruscan style, displaying ancient goldsmithing techniques like rope twist wirework and a cannetille frame embellished with granulation. The bracelet is adorned with three amethysts, each surrounded by a halo of closely-set lustrous seed pearls. The bracelet is complete with a safety chain for added security and a box clasp.

The bangle has an internal diameter of 6.5cm by 5.8cm, and the gold bangle it measures 1cm across at the back. The amethysts have an approximate combined carat weight of 2.5cts.

Despite being over 100 years old, this gorgeous antique bracelet remains in great condition. All the stones are securely set, there is a small dent on the back of the bangle, and the hinge and catch of the clasp work perfectly. The inside of the bracelet is fully hallmarked for 9K gold. A truly gorgeous piece of Edwardian craftsmanship.

The Edwardian era of jewellery, named after King Edward VII, spanned from 1901 to 1910, although stylistically it is often extended through to 1914. Edwardian jewellery was characterised by a move away from the large and ostentatious jewellery pieces of the Victorian era towards smaller and more refined pieces.
