    • A striking devotional pendant in exceptionally rich high-karat gold, fashioned as a hollow tubular cross enriched with cannetille work—rows of applied circular bosses edged in fine rope twist. Each arm terminates in elegant scroll and loop finials, and three little tassels of natural seed pearls sway from the lower and side terminals, giving the piece movement and light. The intense colour of the gold instantly suggests to the naked eye a very high fineness (it tests as 22–23K); this palette and the decorative grammar are consistent with northern European work of the 1820s–30s, quite possibly Swedish.

Cannetille - light, raised gold ornament made from tiny wires and granulated coils - was a hallmark of fashion in the Romantic era, prized for achieving volume without weight. Here it creates a lively, almost textile texture across the cross, while the hollow construction keeps the jewel wearable despite its generous scale.

      • Date & origin: c.1830; northern Europe, possibly Sweden.
      • Materials: very high-karat gold (approx. 22–23K); natural seed-pearl clusters; hollow cannetille construction.
      • Size & weight: 6 × 4.5 × 1 cm; 7.21 g.
      • Condition: very good antique condition with gentle surface wear and faint age marks to the tubes; seed-pearl drops intact; ready to wear.

A rare survivor of early 19th-century goldsmithing, combining opulent colour with airy, architectural detailing; made to catch the candlelight and the eye.
