An antique French devotional pendant dating to circa 1930, crafted in solid 18K gold and set with an oval mother-of-pearl plaque finely engraved with a cherub. The engraving is delicately executed, with softly modelled features and wings rendered in low relief, taking full advantage of the natural lustre and depth of the nacre.The pendant is of restrained architectural form, typical of French religious jewellery of the interwar period, with a simple oval gold frame and discreet open setting. The reverse is plain and polished.The piece bears the maker’s mark ‘CF’ and the French eagle head hallmark, confirming manufacture in Paris and a gold fineness of 18K. This pendant forms part of a small group of mother-of-pearl religious jewels acquired from the remaining stock of a former French manufacturing jeweller specialising in devotional medals and pendants.
