An unusual and finely crafted antique emerald and diamond ring, made in Germany in the 19th century.The ring centres on a vivid step-cut emerald (approx. 4 × 3mm), set in an open-backed rectangular rub-over collet. Its bright green colour and characteristic inclusions are consistent with Colombian origin, the most prized source in historical emerald trade.Flanking the emerald are four rose-cut diamonds set in silver, their foil backing and clustered arrangement in keeping with 19th-century continental jewellery practices.
