A French 'toi et moi' diamond ring made in Paris around 1910: two old cut diamonds in a swirl of smaller stones.Toi et moi means 'you and me', and the crossover design, with two stones side by side, made it a romantic choice for engagement. Here the two old cut diamonds, each approximately 0.3ct, sit at the centre of a firework-like swirl of old cut and rose cut diamonds.The ring is 18K yellow gold with the settings topped in platinum, a technique of the early 20th century that makes the diamonds look whiter and brighter. The settings are open-backed to let in the light.
