A Dutch rose cut diamond necklace of about 1900, set with 69 diamonds and a diamond drop of approximately 1 carat.The drop is centred on a rose cut diamond of approximately 1ct, 6mm across. The other stones run through interlinked floral links, all in foil-backed silver settings, a traditional technique that maximises their glow by candlelight.Its look is Georgian in spirit, but it is distinctly Dutch, continuing traditional techniques into the early 20th century. The front looks silver, with a softly aged patina, but the necklace is solid 14K yellow gold with a thin layer of silver on the front.At 20 grams, with sections that move and catch the light, it has real presence on the collarbone.Details: c.1900; Netherlands; 14K gold, silver-faced front; 69 rose cut diamonds, drop diamond approx. 1ct, 6mm; length 41cm (16in); 20g.Condition: Very good; all stones are secure and the box clasp works perfectly.
