    • This vintage gold and lapis lazuli ring from 1972 is a typical example of the bold design of the Modernist movement. Crafted in solid 18K yellow gold by Henkel & Grosse of Pforzheim, Germany, this piece is a rare example of their fine jewellery, as the company is best known for its collaborations with major fashion houses such as Dior, Givenchy, and Yves Saint Laurent, primarily in costume jewellery.

The ring features a polished curved lapis lazuli inlay, measuring 11mm x 3.5mm, which contrasts beautifully with the buttery yellow gold setting. The vibrant blue of the lapis lazuli is enhanced by its smooth polish, creating a seamless interplay between gemstone and metal. The band tapers from 4mm at the front to 2mm at the back.

Fully hallmarked for 18K gold (750), this ring is a UK size M½ (US size 6.5), weighs 4 grams, and protrudes 5mm above the finger. Its timeless yet modern design makes it versatile for both daily wear and special occasions.

Henkel & Grosse, established in 1907, holds a significant place in jewellery history. Despite being granted worldwide rights to produce Christian Dior's costume jewellery in 1955, the company continued to independently produced exquisite pieces from its own fine jewellery line like this modernist example. This ring remains is in excellent condition.
