    • An antique rose cut diamond cluster ring of elongated navette form, dating to circa 1890; likely Ottoman in origin.

The bezel is finely composed as a graduated arrangement of rose cut diamonds, increasing in size toward the centre, enclosed within a delicate inner frame and surrounded by a border of smaller stones. The overall effect is that of a continuous “sea” of diamonds.

The stones are foil-backed; a traditional 18th and 19th century technique in which a thin reflective foil is placed beneath each diamond to enhance light return and apparent brightness. This was standard practice prior to modern cutting and setting methods, and is entirely correct for the period.

Mounted in 9K gold with a warm, rosy hue. The shank is a later replacement with split shoulders, sympathetically executed and secure.

      Size: UK L½; US 6
      Weight: 4.4g
      Head: 2.7 x 1.2cm

In excellent overall condition. A refined and elegant example of late 19th century diamond work, with strong regional character.
