The tapering shank is constructed from five distinguished bands (one of which has a fine crack; does not affect wear). This is a fine example of high level regency period craftsmanship.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe central rose cut diamond is also foil-backed, an early method of gem setting which adds brilliance and the illusion of greater depth. The triangular facets of rose cuts were very popular during the Georgian period as they glistened more beautifully in candlelight than any other cut.
