A superb mid-19th century French emerald and diamond cluster ring, crafted in 18K gold. The ring is a striking example of the refined craftsmanship of the period; elegant, intricate, and designed to dazzle in the soft evening light of candlelit salons. At the centre lies a richly coloured emerald of approximately 1 carat, step-cut in a rectangular form and mounted in a claw setting. The gem exhibits a vivid, saturated green with excellent translucency - a high-quality stone, mostly eye-clean with only minimal natural inclusions visible under magnification. Surrounding it are ten old mine-cut diamonds, each around 2 mm (approx. 0.05 ct each), creating a luminous frame of fire and brilliance. The head of the ring, measuring 14 × 11 mm, is supported by beautifully chiselled openwork shoulders with repoussé-style interlocking motifs - a distinct touch that marries ornamental delicacy with structural precision. The gems are open-backed for natural light reflection, whilst enabling easy cleaning and daily wear!French, circa 1840Materials: 18K gold (owl hallmark), emerald, old mine-cut diamondsWeight: 3.69gEmerald: approx. 0.90–1.10ctRing size: UK M½ / US 6.5Condition: Very good antique condition; all stones secure, gold recently cleaned, showing minimal wear consistent with age.An outstanding and wearable antique ring - elegant yet full of presence.
